Evangelism Is…a Family Affair, Part 3 (The Soul-Winning Motivator #115)

Our soul winning passage from the Word of God today is Exodus 20:12 which reads: “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”

Our soul winning quote today is from John F. Kennedy. He said: “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.”

Our soul winning devotional is part 98 of our series titled “What Evangelism Is” from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

Depending on the behaviors you wish to promote in your family, you’ll find countless passages in Scripture on which to build your mission statement. The verses below, for example, deal with loving one another, encouraging one another, and sharing your faith.

John 15:12 says, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

Philemon 6:6 says, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”

Having reviewed the mission, purpose, and commands of Jesus Christ, you now have a good framework for developing your family mission statement. Remember that this is a family effort; you will want to involve all members, produce something that is meaningful to everyone, and have fun doing it.
