Our soul winning verse from the Word of God today is Mark 16:15 which reads: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Our soul winning quote today is from Charles Spurgeon: “Christian people; your one business in life is to lead men to believe in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, and every other thing should be made subservient to this one oject; if you can but get them saved, everything else will come right in due time.”
Our soul winning devotional today is part 1 of our series titled “What Evangelism Is” from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.
Evangelism is the real business of life.
We are created for God’s glory and saved to glorify God. The next logical question is this: How do I best glorify God? C. S. Lewis answered that for us in his Reflections: “The glory of God, and, as our only means of glorifying Him, the salvation of souls is the real business of life.”
Ultimately, God gets the most glory, and we find the deepest fulfillment when our lives are concentrated on “the salvation of souls.” God is glorified as we lead others to also become God glorifiers. In other words God gets glory when we help others get saved. The apostle Paul tells us that God’s glory through the salvation of others should be the driving motivation behind everything we do, even what we eat or drink: “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.”
Notice the first sentence: “Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” Now notice those last five words, “that they may be saved.” Evangelism, helping people get saved, is deeply rewarding because it fulfills the reason for our existence. Evangelism is why you are here. You will never be fulfilled until you live for the glory of God. You can’t glorify God unless you live a lifestyle of evangelism.
You must make the real business of life, the salvation of souls, the real business of your life. Don’t waste your life living for yourself. Don’t waste it pursuing pleasure, position, or possessions. Don’t waste it merely collecting experiences and adventures. Don’t waste it at all. Instead use it for that which will bring you the most fulfillment on Earth and the most joy in eternity. Invest your life in glorifying God by the salvation of souls.
God may lead you to be a schoolteacher, a homemaker, a missionary, an artist, a doctor, or a musician. You may sense God’s directing you to be a businessperson, an engineer, a laborer, a lawyer, a farmer, a church planter, or a technician. Whatever career God guides you into, let it be a platform by which you help cultivate the salvation of souls.
